**Where your money goes is published by Tekstak Ltd**, an independent UK company. It explains what fuel and energy cost in the UK and how much of that is tax, using figures pulled nightly from official sources: DESNZ, HMRC, Ofgem, the ONS, the Bank of England, Eurostat and the European Commission. There is no advertising, no party affiliation and no sponsorship.








## What this site is



A set of plain answers to questions people actually ask about UK fuel and energy costs, each built
around a figure that is current rather than remembered. Every number on the site is generated from data
on each nightly run; nothing is typed into a template. Where a figure has no machine-readable source,
it lives in a config file with a link and the date a person last checked it, and that date is printed
next to the figure.

Tekstak Ltd, a UK company. You can reach us at

for corrections, questions or data requests. We also publish
[UK tax calculators](https://howlongisit.co.uk).





## How it is funded and what it collects



There is no advertising on this site, no affiliate links and no sponsored content. It sets no cookies
and loads no third-party tracking scripts. Analytics, where enabled, are self-hosted and
cookie-free: they count page views and referrers, and cannot identify you. That is why there is no
consent banner.





## Using the figures



Everything here is published under
[CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Republish it,
including commercially, as long as you credit Tekstak Ltd and link back. The
[data page](/data/) has CSV and JSON downloads, field definitions and an embeddable widget
that updates itself.





## How to check what we say



- Every figure links to the body that published it.

- Every figure shows the date of the observation behind it, not the date you are reading.

- A figure whose source has stopped updating is marked, rather than quietly shown as current.

- The [status page](/status/) shows last night's run: which sources worked and which did not.

- The [methodology page](/methodology/) sets out every calculation.

- The [corrections log](/corrections/) records anything we have got wrong.
