# Neutrality statement

**Tekstak Ltd has no party affiliation** and this site takes no position on whether any tax should be higher or lower. Where a question is genuinely contested — whether fuel duty is too high, whether renewables levies are good value, whether policy or gas is to blame for electricity prices — the page sets out the strongest version of each case and keeps the line between what is measured and what is argued visible.








## The rules this site follows



- **Figures are not arguments.** A number is reported with its source and its date. Where
two credible sources disagree, both are given.

- **Both sides, at their strongest.** Contested questions get a two-column panel with the
best case on each side, not a strawman and a preferred answer.

- **Flag, do not accuse.** When the analysis finds something unusual — a week when the
refining and retail margin ran wide, for instance — the page says what the data shows and lists the
innocent explanations alongside. It does not assert a motive.

- **Say what the data does not show.** Correlation is labelled as correlation. Where a
measure could be read two ways, the page gives both readings.

- **Careful wording is checked against data.** The claim that the UK has the highest
industrial electricity prices among IEA members, and is among the highest but not the highest for
households, is regenerated from the DESNZ tables on every run. If the data stops supporting it, the
build raises a warning.






## Independence



No advertising, no sponsorship, no affiliate links, no donations from anyone with an interest in the
subject. Nothing on the site has been reviewed or approved by a government department, an energy
company, a motoring organisation or a campaign group.





## When we are wrong



Mistakes get logged, dated and left on the [corrections page](/corrections/) rather than
quietly edited away. If you think a figure or a characterisation is wrong, tell us and we will check it
against the source.
