How are these figures worked out?
England and Scotland publish every band directly, so those are the councils' own figures. Wales publishes Band D only, so the other bands are derived from it using the statutory ratios, which are set in law and identical for every Welsh authority. Pages for Welsh areas say so.
The band ratios differ by nation. England and Wales work in ninths: Band A pays two-thirds of Band D and the top band twice it. Scotland used the same ratios until 2017, when the multipliers for bands E to H were raised, so expensive Scottish homes now pay relatively more. Wales has a ninth band, Band I, added at its 2003 revaluation.
